What’s the most spontaneous thing you’ve ever done? Being only 24 years of age, I have many years\u00a0left to add to my list of “Spontaneous Trips.” However, one of my recent trips includes a 16-hour road trip to Sarasota, Florida, to spend a week there with some of my closest friends. We had no idea what we were doing, but we were<\/em> craving an adventure (… and also didn’t have the funds for a $500 flight). I still find myself reminiscing about that trip, which is why I’ve come up with the the top reasons you should go on a road trip.<\/p>\n

7 Reasons Why You Need to Go on a Road Trip<\/h2>\n

  1. It’ll test your relationships.<\/strong> Seriously. If you and your friends can survive several hours in the car without getting irritated at each other,\u00a0your friendship will likely last for years. Spending 16 hours in a car with three of my friends was a great bonding experience and only made us closer. You’ll learn a lot about each other, despite thinking you may already know everything about them.<\/li>\n
  2. It’s spontaneous.\u00a0<\/strong>If you live for spontaneous decisions and vacations, this is your ultimate trip. You have the freedom to go ANYWHERE without interfering with your plans – because there are no plans other than driving.<\/li>\n
  3. Driving is more scenic than flying.<\/strong>\u00a0While flying can<\/em> be pretty, the birds-eye view of earth gets old pretty quick.<\/li>\n
  4. It’s way cheaper than flying.<\/strong> As I mentioned earlier, my friends and I drove to Florida because we didn’t have the funds to splurge on a very expensive flight. Driving cost us about $250 total; split it four ways and our trip to Florida cost us a mere $63… versus a $500 plane ticket.<\/li>\n
  5. You’ll expand your music selection.<\/strong> “If I’m driving, we’re listening to my music.” We all know and live by that rule. If that’s the case, you are going to hear a vast selection in music.. and hopefully enjoy it or else your drive is going to be an unpleasant one.<\/li>\n
  6. Gives you a reason to put down your phone.<\/strong> We’re all connected to our phones whether we’d like to admit it or not. However, if you’re driving, you can’t (er, shouldn’t) be on your phone. Putting down your phone allows you to disconnect from the world and appreciate\u00a0nature’s beauty.<\/li>\n
  7. You’ll create memories.\u00a0<\/strong>Road trips can be long, stressful and tiresome, but I guarantee you’ll create some of the best memories of your life. How often do you hear of crazy \u00a0stories from a plane ride? Hardly ever.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
