You know all about those senior-living communities: mobile home parks, condos, and planned villages for the retirement-age and older crowd. And while they have certain advantages such as activities and amenities specifically designed for those 50 and older, they often have restrictions as well. There may be limitations on the age and number of guests or the exterior d\u00e9cor and landscaping of your abode, for example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re one of those seniors who love to travel via RV but still want age-appropriate locations when you park your wheels for a night, week, or longer, consider a senior-friendly RV campground. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These 50-and-up places offer more than laundry areas and free WiFi. The focus tends to be on socializing and active lifestyle options with activities such as shuffleboard, pickleball courts, game centers, and hobby groups. Some even offer tours of local spots of interest or presentations on topics of interest to the older crowd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whatever your hobbies or interests, there is bound to be an RV campground that either has it onsite or in close proximity to its location. And when you\u2019re ready to head out, you just take your \u201chome\u201d along with you to your next destination!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

81 Palms Senior RV Resort, 2800 West Pine, Deming, NM 88030<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just off Interstate 10 (I-10) at Exit 81, 81 Palms is for seniors 55 and older. The resort has 106 long pull-thru sites with full hook-ups including sewer, water, and electric. Once you get settled, enjoy the spacious recreation hall, the indoor heated swimming pool, and two miles of walking paths around the park, among other amenities. 81 Palms also has a pet run where Fido can get some exercise as well!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alligator Park RV Park, 6400 Taylor Rd. Unit# 112, Punta Gorda, FL 33950<\/strong><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Centrally located between Sarasota and Ft. Myers and easy to get to from I-75, Alligator Park is home to both short- and long-term residents 55 and older. The full hook-up back-in RV lots are approximately 30 ft. by 80 ft. with a concrete patio and an adjacent 60′ concrete driveway\/RV slab. The park itself has a variety of social activities, from card game groups to walkers, bikers, and shuffleboard players, along with a heated swimming pool open until dusk. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Punta Gorda<\/a> itself has an abundance of cultural and recreational opportunities: birding, golfing and fishing, just to name three. As for the reptiles, while alligators have occasionally been spotted near the lake, they haven\u2019t been seen in other areas around the Park!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re heading down to the South Texas area, then consider taking a break at 55-and up Bentsen Grove Resort in Palmview. The RV lots come with full-service hook-ups in sizes that will accommodate mobile homes and RVs of all sizes and lengths<\/a>, with standard amenities such as laundry facilities, shower areas, cable TV and high-speed wireless internet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for activities<\/a>, take your pick from swimming in the indoor and outdoor pools, exercising in the fitness center, playing pickleball in the pickleball facility or just enjoying any of the events and classes in the three recreational halls. Feed your mind at the onsite library<\/a> or your body at the Y-Cook Caf\u00e9<\/a>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Caliente Springs Resort, 70200 Dillon Rd. Desert Hot Springs, CA 92241<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCaliente\u201d means \u201chot\u201d in Spanish, and that\u2019s the climate at Desert Hot Springs, although the dry air is balanced by the hot mineral springs<\/a> at this 55-and-older resort located in the greater Palm Springs area. But that\u2019s not all that\u2019s available. Caliente Springs Resort also has pickleball and tennis courts, a 9-hole golf course and driving range, and both a fitness room and game room among its amenities<\/a>. The resort has three classes of sites<\/a>\u2014Elite, Deluxe and Standard, and for those traveling with a caravan or RV group, the resort can accommodate neighboring sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
